Hey there!
I’m Kayla, the gal behind these posts. The purpose of this blog is to help you live more intentionally every day. By writing about personal growth, self-care, productivity, and mindset, I hope to give you the tools to bring more intentionality and presence to your life. Whether you’ve recently discovered personal development or if you’re a life-long junkie like me, all are welcome here!
When I’m not working on The Intentional Gal, you can usually find me day dreaming about interior design, eating Thai food, cuddling my cat, and photographing weddings over at Kayla Bowen Photography.

How I Got Here
I fell in love with personal development at an early age. I was at the library one summer in middle school when I came upon the book, How to Be Happy All the Time by Paramahansa Yogananda. After reading that book, I was sold. Little middle schooler me was fascinated with all things self-improvement and I never stopped loving it. I became obsessed with psychology in high school when I took an AP Psych class and got my Bachelor’s in Psychology at Portland State University. I was certain that I wanted to be a Counselor specializing in grief to help people who’ve lost loved ones. But fast forward to me graduating and even being accepted into a Master’s of Clinical Psychology Program and I suddenly wasn’t so sure that I wanted to be a Counselor. I withdrew from the program one month before it started and wandered around aimlessly until I found photography. I’ve been doing photography for the past couple of years and love that I get to interact with people and document their love stories for a living. That combined with this blog has really created the perfect combination of things I want to be doing with my life.
